Smile eventHRH Prince Michael of Kent opened the new Smile respite centre in Waterlooville in January 2016.

Founded in 1994, Smile Support & Care aims to provide support to disabled children and young adults up to the age of 25 and their families.

The new Smile centre in Waterlooville fulfils a gap in the care that’s needed for children with disabilities, and offers children the chance to stay there – with or without their families – affording them a break from their everyday lives. The centre includes eight bedrooms with en-suites for children to stay, two family suites, a sensory room, a large therapy room, cafe and gardens. The centre hopes to provide support for hundreds of children from Hampshire and the surrounding areas each year.
During his visit to the centre, Prince Michael toured the building before meeting guests and unveiling a plaque in the centre’s cafe.
