The Prince Michael of Kent Foundation

A charitable Foundation was set up and registered in Moscow on 25th June 2004 under the Unique State registration number 1047796457873 and in the name of His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent. The founder directors of the Foundation are:
Alexander Shusterovich – ( Chairman ) CEO of Nauka/Interperiodica
Vyacheslav Kopiev- Deputy Chairman of Sistema
Andrey Matveyev - Executive Director of the Sistema Charitable Foundation
Dimitri Pumpiansky - General Director of Metal Pipe Co; a nominee of Mr Alexander
Yastrzhembsky
David Iakobashvili - Chairman of Wimm-Bill-Dann Co.
The General Manager of the Foundation is Sergei Markov, who also occupies a similar post with the Russian National Orchestra.
The Foundation has been set up as a grant-making charity, which aims to raise a substantial Capital Endowment fund, the interest from which will provide the funds to satisfy genuine applications. These applications will be accepted from genuine not-for-profit organisations and appropriate individuals, and will be reviewed and administered by Charities Aid Foundation Russia ( CAF) who will determine those to which the Foundation will make an appropriate grant.
The objective of the Foundation is to provide support to the following sectors of society in Russia:
Health - Paediatric health and education, particularly in the area of burns injuries and rehabilitation
Education - Supporting post-graduate scholarships in the field of entrepreneurship
Culture - Music, painting, film and the arts generally
Heritage - The restoration of historic buildings throughout the regions of Russia as well as in Moscow and St Petersburgh.
On 23rd November 2004, there took place a UK launch Reception and Dinner for the Prince Michael of Kent Foundation hosted by His Royal Highness in the State Apartments at Kensington Palace. The evening was made possible through the generosity of Boucheron ,164 New Bond Street, the French jewellery house, who made a brooch in a design identical to one sold in the Boucheron store in Moscow in 1896. This was auctioned during the evening to raise funds for the Prince Michael of Kent Foundation. The Russian launch will take place in Moscow in early 2005.
The immediate aim is to raise $10 million
